Health and Safety Administrator

Initial 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Salary: circa £35,000

Our client, a well-established manufacturing business, is seeking a driven Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability (HSES) Administrator to join their team on an initial 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional to play a key role in maintaining and developing health, safety, environmental and sustainability standards across a busy operational site. Working closely with site management and employees, you will help promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and continual improvement of Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability management systems
• Assist with the development and implementation of HSES policies, procedures and standards
• Conduct risk assessments including COSHH, DSE, Manual Handling and PUWER assessments
• Carry out workplace inspections, audits and compliance monitoring activities
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
• Maintain HSES records, databases and performance reports
• Monitor changes in legislation and industry best practice, ensuring ongoing compliance
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and HSES training programmes
• Support the site’s Permit to Work system
• Assist with environmental compliance activities, including waste management, emissions monitoring and resource efficiency projects
• Prepare reports and presentations for management teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

About You

• Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within manufacturing, production, chemical processing or another high-risk environment
• Experience carrying out risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with employees at all levels

Desirable qualifications and experience include

• Environmental qualification such as NEBOSH Environmental Certificate
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
• Internal Auditor qualification
• Experience liaising with external regulatory bodies and certification organisations
